Gitika, with a camera in hand, travels to many countries around the world, taking photos of numerous stars and celebrities, as well as countless historic moments. She works tirelessly, regardless of the sun or rain, focusing solely on her work. Once a familiar face for everyone in Doom Dooma town in Tinsukia district, known for her dancing and singing, this talented young woman received her early education at Doom Dooma Kendriya Vidyalaya and Doom Dooma College. She became involved in the cultural field of the city. Since then, she has not looked back.

Recently, Gitika Talukdar received direct recognition from the International Olympic Committee (IOC) for the Paris Olympic Games 2024. She earlier covered the Tokyo Olympics 2020 in Japan. Additionally, she has brought pride to the country and the state by participating in events such as the FIFA Women’s World Cup in Australia and New Zealand, the FIFA World Cup in Qatar, the FIFA Women’s World Cup in France, the FIFA World Cup in Russia, the ICC Cricket World Cup in London, the IPL, the Commonwealth Games, and the South Asian Games.

Gitika holds a master’s degree in Sports Management from the prestigious Seoul National University in South Korea, which she earned through a scholarship from the Ministry of Sports, Republic of South Korea, in 2020. She believes that her accreditation to photograph the Paris Games will enhance women’s leadership qualities.

The residents of Doom Dooma and the people of Tinsukia district are proud of the rare achievements of this former resident. Following this good news about Gitika, MLA Rupesh Goyal expressed his joy to the media, saying, “As the first and only female photographer from India to receive direct recognition from the International Olympic Committee to cover the Paris Olympic Games 2024, we, the people of Doom Dooma and Tinsukia, are very happy and proud of Assam’s daughter, Assam’s pride, Gitika Talukdar.”

“Having completed her college education, and later studying in Guwahati, Gitika Talukdar pursued journalism as a career. She lived for many years in her own house in a small town, near my own home, with her parents and two siblings. She was also known in the town as a skilled dancer and singer. Therefore, this multi-talented daughter of Doom Dooma, who advanced due to her hard work, has made us all very happy and proud as residents of Doom Dooma,” the MLA added.
