Madhya Pradesh High Court on Thursday granted interim protection from arrest till December 30 to former Joint Secretary of Madhya Pradesh Cricket Association Alpesh Shah, accused of sexual harassment by a young woman cricketer.

Shah has applied to the court for anticipatory bail. Justice Shubhada Waghmare on Thursday restrained police from arresting him till December 30, the next date of hearing, and directed the complainant woman to ensure her or her lawyer's presence on that date.

Shah's lawyer Ajay Bagadia told the judge that his client and the woman had already settled the matter before the five-member MPCA probe committee on December 21.

The committee headed by the retired High Court Judge Indrani Datta had signed the settlement copies for both sides and ended the probe, he said. The woman had alleged that Shah outraged her modesty at the administrative block office of Holkar Stadium in Indore on September 23.

He stepped down from the MPCA post when the matter came to light on November 27.
