CHIKMAGALUR: Mudigere MLA Kumaraswamy has submitted his resignation on Monday to Speaker K G Bopaiah who was in his hometown Mercara. Many believe it to be a political game as Ministry expansion is nearing. But, leaders close to him say that the rift between him and district BJP president M K Pranesh has come to the fore in the background of the Aldur incident in which Kumaraswamy’s trusted aide Kaveesh was expelled from the party without consulting the MLA.On December 12 Aldur gram panchayat president Kavesh had removed Bhagava Dhwaj at the circle named after Ambedkar. In the subsequent trouble that ensued on December 13, Bajrang Dal activists took out a procession and shouted slogans against Kavesh. It might be recalled that 22 Bajrang Dal and DSS workers were arrested in this connection. However, Kavesh, a BJP worker, said that the renaming of the circle was done at the wishes of Bajrang Dal and it was unanimously resolved at the Aldur panchayat meeting. This is not the first time that Kumaraswamy has vented out his helplessness for being sidelined among the BJP cadres in the district. Previously, some BJP workers had assaulted Kumaraswamy. But it went unnoticed due to the intervention of party leaders. His contention is that his plea to the party higher ups, including K S Eshwarappa, the CM and others has not improved the situation. It remains to be seen whether this is drama or reality.
