Mumbai: A group of suspected Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) activists attacked an office of the Mumbai University on Tuesday morning, police said.
"A group of men who seemed to be MNS workers barged into an office of the University in South Mumbai and broke the window glasses," Additional Commissioner of Police K Venkatesan said.
Police have rushed to the spot to control the situation, he said adding further investigations are on. Reason behind the attack could not be ascertained immediately.
According to eyewitnesses, soda bottles were thrown at the authorities in the university.
They were protesting against University not considering Marathi language as an option to Social Sciences and English in the first year BA degree course.
Police have arrested six students in connection with the incident.
