HYDERABAD: The central government's coveted award for 'National Innovation' was presented to Hyderabad based Srimaharshi Research Institute of Vedic Technology (SRIVT).
Though the central government's department of science and technology (DST) and the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), who instituted the award to encourage innovative technology, received 850 entries from all over India, only five have been selected for the award for different innovations. Among the five, SRIVT is the only institution from Andhra Pradesh. Union minister of state for science technology Aswini Kumar has presented the award recently to Dr AB Sudhakara Sastry of SRIVT in the presence of noted technologist Sam Pitroda, CSIR directorgeneral SK Brahmachary, head of NSCTCDST BK Singh for the "remarkable innovation."
