New Delhi: They may have hi-tech arms and ammunitions to fight the Army. But now the militants in the northeast want to upgrade their computer knowledge too.
A cadre of the Dima Halam Daogah (DHD), an Assam-based militant outfit, was arrested recently for taking a computer course, a senior police official was quoted by news agency PTI as saying.
The leadership of militant outfits was sending their cadres to turn computer savvy inorder to deal with changing times since Shillong is becoming a favoured destination because of its road links with Mizoram, Tripura, Assam and the porous border with Bangladesh.
Earlier, an arrested cadre of the United National Liberation Front (UNLF) also confessed to the Meghalaya police that he was here to pursue his studies.
The ultras evade popular institutions for fear of being noticed and opt for lesser known ones.
Outfits like the KYKL, NDFB, NLFT, NSCN (IM) besides the ULFA are known to be operating in the state.
