For assisting the farmers, the government is planning to set up a welfare board for farmers and a tribunal, the Minister said.The Minister asked the local self-government institutions to earmark maximum fund allocation for agriculture sector in their annual budget.The Ernakulam district panchayat allocated 50 per cent of its annual budget funds for the agriculture sector, he said. Of the total budgetary funds, 40 per cent of allocation of the local bodies is  made for the infrastructure sector, which is mandatory, he said.The government will initiate measures to improve the district farms and steps will be taken to provide maximum assistance for the farmers from the farms.The government has already taken measures to set up high-tech farms, he said. The government will give 75 per cent subsidy of the total cost of Rs 4 lakh, he said.MLAs can suggest a location to set up a high-tech farm in their constituency.
