A start-up at the prestigious Indian Institute of Science has developed a new DNA stain that would make diagnosis of diseases much faster. In a significant breakthrough in molecular biology, Dr Fatima Benazir of Indian Institute of Science has unveiled a DNA stain Tinto-Rang which has been patented as the fastest to be used in lab diagnosis. Developed from natural dyes, the DNA stain can cut down diagnosis test time in labs from 3 days to just a day.

"The USP is that it is said to be world's safest DNA stain where as all the market options available are carcinogenic and bio hazardous. We are planning to have the product commercially viable in India by Q2 of 2016 and planning to partner with sellers and distributors. It will be available through the world by end of 2016," Dr Fatima Benzair, Scientist IISC said.

Typically, labs across the world take anywhere between 3 to 10 days to detect infections and diseases ranging from zika to HIV. But this 'desi' DNA stain promises to give you results in hours, helping doctors to zero down on their treatment faster.

"Two countries that have shown interest are Japan and South Korea. In South Korea there is a trade fare called Bio Korea and they have informed us that we might be a part of the trade delegation and we are planning to take the product to east first," Marketing Head, Tinto Rang Alex D Paul said.
