New Lokayukta: Ball in Governors court, says CM

HUBLI:  On the government’s decision to appoint Justice S R Bannurmath as the state’s next Lokayukta, Chief Minister D V Sadananda Gowda said that the government had furnished additional information sought from the Governor’s office regarding the appointment of Justice S R Bannurmath as the Lokayukta.He further added that the issue was now with the Governor and that the state could appoint Bannurmath as the next Lokayukta only after Governor H R Bhardwaj gave his consent.The CM also stated that the state had incurred an estimated crop loss of over Rs 2,400 crore.  Speaking to reporters at Hubli airport en-route to Belgaum, the CM stated that the state had incurred an estimated crop loss of over Rs 2,400 crore. The state government had declared 99 taluks as drought hit, with the addition of nine more taluks to the list.
