The police officials said the boy seemed to have remained in the toilet for more than four hours and managed to weather extreme cold.

Members of the cleaning staff at Amritsar Railway station were in for a surprise when they entered one of the toilets in Howrah Express on Saturday and found a newly-born boy flushed down the toilet.

The baby was found when a worker spotted one end of a dupatta lying out of a toilet in the train’s AC compartment D-3. The baby, not more than a day old, was pulled out with the dupatta tied around his neck, in what seemed like a possible strangulation effort.

The workers were surprised to see that the boy was alive. They took him to Amritsar civil hospital and informed the police about the incident, said a report in Hindustan Times.

The police officials said the boy seemed to have remained in the toilet for more than four hours and managed to weather extreme cold.
