The two-member committee had given a clean chit to the accused faculty. However, this time, a four member panel will look into the charges. The executive council also approved the 33 fresh appointments and promotions of 53 faculty members in the meeting.

Lucknow: NSDL to launch 120 e-Suvidha centres to file tax return

Filing trade tax returns just became easier, as the state government, with the help of National Security Depository Limited (NSDL), has decided to open 120 special e-Suvidha centres across the state where businessmen can download various forms and file their trade tax returns. At present, industrialists and businessmen have to run from one counter to another at the trade tax office to purchase forms and file their returns. However, after the establishment of these e-suvidha centres, these forms can be downloaded and tax returns filed with the click of a mouse.

Lucknow: After year-long wait, process to fill vacant SIC posts takes off

Uttar Pradesh government has begun the process of filling eight posts of information commissioners in the UP State Information Commission (UPSIC), which had been lying vacant for the past one year. The government is likely to issue fresh advertisements for the appointment of the commissioners soon. Chief secretary Jawed Usmani has already written to the chief minister for final approval, according to the reply to an RTI query. Sources said after the CM’s go-ahead, over a hundred applications that were directly received for the posts from various quarters might stand null and void.

Lucknow: CIS facilitates meritorious students of AISSCE-13

City International School, Indira Nagar, honoured its meritorious students and their parents in a felicitation ceremony organised at the school. The programme started with Ganesh Vandana followed by school prayer and song. Varanasi: Rising water level of Ganga worsens flood situation in state

Several ghats of the city are under the water as water level in Ganga continued to rise. The flood situation continued to remain grim in the state as rain continued to swell major rivers and cause displacement of lakhs of people. Initially only the western part of the state faced the flood situation but now rivers have triggered damage in the eastern part as well. The River Ganges is rising at Kannauj, Allahabad, Mirzapur, Varanasi, Ghazipur and Ballia, whereas the River Yamuna is in spate at Baghpat, Auraiyya, Hamirpur, Banda and Allahabad.
