1. In UP prison, it is roza for 60 Hindu inmates
Setting an example of communal harmony, more than 60 Hindu inmates of the district jail here are keeping `roza', the dawn-to-dusk fast during Ramzan, along with 1,150 Muslim inmates. The holy month of Ramzan commenced Tuesday.
On the first day of the Ramzan, 65 Hindu inmates kept fast with 1,150 Muslim inmates here, said Satish Tripathi, jailor of the district jail told The Mirror. Special arrangements have been made for the inmates to perform prayers and enjoy their pre-dawn `sehri' meal and evening meals known as `iftars'. Food items like seasonal fruits, dates, 500 gram milk and various other snacks are being made available to them.
2. Madhya Pradesh tehsildar gets notice for pro-Modi post on Facebook
Soon after an IAS officer in Madhya Pradesh was transferred for a purported anti-Modi post on Facebook, a tehsildar is in trouble for a pro-Modi post that takes potshots at “secularists and those with Congress mindset’’ for their inability to digest anything that is said in the Prime Minister’s praise.
In a Facebook post Tuesday, Ratlam tehsildar Amita Singh requested the PM to start “Rajiv Gandhi Atmahatya Yojana’’ so that “secularists and people with Congress mindset” can commit “suicide” rather than hear news about the response he got during his Afghanistan visit when “Muslims carried the tricolour and chanted Bharat Mata Ki Jai and Vande Mataram," The Indian Express reported.
3. Delhi Metro holds first trial run on Magenta line
The first trial run on the Magenta line of the Delhi Metro was conducted Wednesday between Kalindi Kunj depot station and Okhla Vihar Metro station.
According to the Indian Express, the 38-km-long Magenta line stretches from Janakpuri West station to Botanical Garden station and is expected to cater to 4 lakh passengers.
4. Uttar Pradesh: Prohibition board chief sacked for ‘threatening’ DPRO, ‘abusing’ DM
The state government Wednesday dismissed the chairman of UP Liquor Prohibition Board after an alleged clip of him threatening and abusing senior officials of Baghpat district went viral on social media, the Indian Express reported.
Kuldeep Ujjwal, who is also the Samajwadi Party’s Baghpat candidate for the Assembly polls next year, however alleged conspiracy and claimed that the said audio clip is “doctored”.
5. Karnataka DSP Anupama Shenoy quits, threatens to ‘expose’ minister, CM
Four days after resignation by a DSP-rank woman officer, who is seen to have taken on the liquor lobby and was earlier transferred for keeping a minister’s call on hold before being reinstated under public pressure, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Wednesday said he has asked the state police chief to “convince her against quitting”.
Having sent her resignation to police chief Om Prakash on June 4 citing personal reasons, Anupama Shenoy, DSP of Kudligi, in Ballari district, has launched a tirade against the state government on social media, said a report in the Indian express.

A daily wager in Rajasthan's Dungarpur sold one of his goats and mortgaged his wife's silver anklet to raise Rs 9,000 for building a toilet.
After some social workers campaigning for the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan reached out to Kantilal Roat's family on the importance of hygiene, and the risks of open defecation, he got down to building a toilet. The activists had also told Roat he would get Rs 12,000.

Railways will now provide baby food at stations and items popular with children, like burgers, during train journey .
Under the scheme named Janani Sewa, the transporter will ensure availability of essential items like hot milk, water and baby food items at stations.
According to The Times of India, Railways minister Suresh Prabhu said the initiative was taken up after he received a complaint from a woman regarding the unavailability of milk and baby food for her child at the railway premises.
8. Online DU registrations cross two-lakh mark within a week
Within a week of Delhi University starting registration to its undergraduate courses, over two lakh aspirants have already applied for admissions, according to The Hindu.
On Wednesday, the number of candidates registered with the varsity touched 2,05,710, with over one lakh of them completing both the application process and fee payment.
9. 37-year-old rapes toddler
A two-year-old girl and a married woman were allegedly raped in separate cases in the Millennium City during the past 24 hours, The Hindu reported. The accused in the toddler’s rape case has been arrested.
In the first case, a 37-year-old man allegedly lured a two-year-old girl in his neighbourhood to his rented accommodation on the pretext of offering her sweets around 9 p.m. on Monday and allegedly raped her.

Bajaj Finance has tied up with retailers and brands for loans tailor made for buyers of clothes, shoes, watches, eyewear and fashion accessories, making it the first such scheme to be rolled out in India, reports Economic times.
The retailers will bear the interest component of the loan, making it a no-cost equated monthly installment (EMI) option for the consumer.
