NIA takes over Nedumbassery case

KOCHI: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) took over the probe of the Nedumbassery fake currency note case from the Crime Branch (Organised Crime Wing) on Monday.NIA officials told ‘Express’ that the investigation has begun and the Karipur fake currency case will also be taken over.A team led by NIA DySP Srinivasa Rao from Hyderabad unit visited the Crime Branch office and evaluated the data of the case in its possession. The NIA has stepped in following the establishment of Pakistan links in both the cases.The NIA has found that the notes have come from different parts of the country. The agency unearthed the link connecting these two cases during the investigation of previous counterfeit cases registered in Hyderabad.
