NIART Balasree Award for Sera

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Sera Mariam Binny, a fourth standard student at Holy Angels’ Convent Higher Secondary School here, has been selected for the NIART Balasree Award. The award is given to primary school students who are talented artists. Sera, who started drawing at the tender age of three by participating in a competition conducted by the EMS Cultural Centre, Pattoor, has around 300 works to her name, according to a statement issued by NIART. In June 2010, she conducted a solo exhibition at the Russian Cultural Centre. Her works were also on display at a group show held as part of the Ozone Day observance. In December, her works will be on exhibition in New Delhi. Deputy Speaker N Shakthan will hand over the award to Sera at the Thiruvananthapuram Press Club on December 7. Transport Minister V S Sivakumar will inaugurate the function.
