No Girl Murdered in Bihar Shelter Home, Bones Found Were of Some Other Adults, CBI Tells SC
All 35 girls suspects of having been murdered have been found alive, CBI told the Supreme Court.

New Delhi: In a twist to Bihar's Muzaffarpur shelter home case, the CBI on Wednesday informed the Supreme Court that no girl was killed inside the home and that all 35 'missing' girls have been found alive.

Attorney General KK Venugopal, representing the CBI, said that the agency has investigated allegations of murders, but has found all the inmates alive.

"The CBI looked into the charges and found everyone alive. Nobody has been killed," the law officer submitted before a bench headed by Chief Justice of India SA Bobde.

Venugopal said that the spot where some skeletons and bones had been found was also examined. "Bones were sent to the forensic laboratory and it was not of any girl. One was of a man from lower down the hip and another was of a woman. But no girl was murdered," added Venugopal.

He also pointed out that NIMHANS provided counselling to the girls and when they were interviewed, they also came out clear that nobody had been murdered.

The CJI took note of the A-G's submission and said there is nothing to doubt his statement which is based on the status report by the CBI.

The amicus in the matter, advocate Aprna Bhat, said she wasn't aware of these details since the copies of the CBI status report had not been given to her.

The court, for the time being, did not pass any order on sharing the status report with her, but expressed satisfaction at the probe.

There were reports earlier that several inmates had not just been raped but also murdered inside the Muzaffarpur shelter home.
