With the latest trend in Assembly Polls it's transparent that BJP will lead Rajasthan with massive number of seats against the ruling Congress.

And now when Congress is all set to lose, who shall than be blamed? Narendra Modi? Vansundhara Raje? Congress' rallies against BJP, double anti-incumbency against central and state Congress leadership?

Well, the reasons are many, but for a Chief Minister who is going to lose as reflected by election trends, Ashok Gehlot shall make a self-introspection before he voices up to blame BJP or the anti-incumbency due to Central government for his defeat.

"Our campaign was on development, we wanted to develop the state. Our schemes were very good, people will remember us for this. During BJP's election rallies in Rajasthan, they spread lies about Congress' governance. BJP's allegations that we made welfare schemes in the last 6 months only for our greed to get votes in the elections are totally baseless," Ashok Gehlot said on Sunday.

Before the Assembly polls the party promised to adopt 'the principal of zero discretion, zero corruption and zero harassment by the government' and said it would set up a 'manifesto implementation committee.' However, in the end, the party came up with a false manifesto.

Experts feel that the woes for the Ashok Gehlot were not a reflection on him as much as a result that was influenced by the mistakes committed by the UPA at the Centre.

"Ashok Gehlot is facing anti-incumbency due to the Central government as well. It is a double anti-incumbency both caused by the state and the Centre," senior journalist Kumar Ketkar told CNN-IBN.

Also the non-charismatic image of CM Ashok Gehlot is a major factor for defeat of Congress in the state. The Rajasthan government also cannot escape from the mistakes it has committed by blaming Central policies alone. For the complete five years the Congress government has hardly done any significant work. Seniors ministers of state also went to jail because of serious crimes and then the communal riots of Bharatpur and Gopalganj besides family members of Gehlot who were allegedly caught in the sand mining scam proved out to the worst for the party. Also the price rise of the daily households, over which the state government had little control.

Even party tried out the big rescue effort by doling out populist schemes, but it now looks like it has fallen short of its objective.

"Electoral history tells you that populist schemes do not bring you votes. The Congress has not learned its lessons yet. The 20-point programme for the poor was a great scheme and was well-implemented by the Congress government in Maharashtra but it did not help them win an election," Ketkar said.

The sad part is that this may turn out to be the worst ever defeat the Congress has ever faced in the state, a survey said.

However, the CM Ashok Gehlot blames everything possible but never counts the mistakes by his ministers or the communal riots or the schemes which he did not come up with.

It's time for Gehlot to face the mirror.
