A regional outfit contesting the Lok Sabha elections on Thursday dismissed the Narendra Modi factor in Rajasthan asking what the Gujarat chief minister did for the state.
National Unionist Zamindara Party (NUZP), which has two MLAs in the state Assembly, and which is contesting three Lok Sabha seats from the state said there was no Modi wave in Jaipur especially in Sriganganagar, Hanumangarh and Bikaner's agricultural and farmer-dominated belt.
"What has Narendra Modi done for Rajasthan? Probably nothing. Waves come in ocean...Rajasthan is sandy desert," National President of NUZP, B D Agarwal said.
"Modi held public meetings in Sriganganagar, Hanumangarh and Bikaner districts. It cut not ice then. How could he have impact on voters now in LS polls?" Agarwal, whose party was founded before independence, asked.
Stating that NUZP's two women MLAs defeated BJP stalwarts by overwhelming majority in the recent Assembly polls, Agarwal said the party was fielding Advocate Shimla Nayak from Sriganganagar, Mangilal Nayak from Bikaner, and Neeru Agarwal from Jaipur for the Lok Sabha polls.
Observing that BJP has given one LS ticket to a woman - Santosh Ahlawat from Jhunjhunu - and there were 49 per cent women voters in the state, he asked how the saffron party would bring women empowerment in the state.
"NUZP...Does not believe in vote bank politics as other parties. It is neither worried of Congress nor of AAP as its aim is to bring a change in the system, (which) may not be quick," he said.
