HYDERABAD: Rajya Sabha member and chairman of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Science and Technology, Environment and Forests, T Subbarami Reddy said that they are planning to plant one crore saplings in Hyderabad city to make it a green city and help in reducing pollution.The committee held a meeting with representatives of various state government departments including chief secretary, pr incipal secretar ies , GHMC commissioner, representatives from the South Central Railway, Metro Rail and industries here on Wednesday to discuss the measures taken up by them to cut down pollution levels.Later speaking to newsmen, Subbarami Reddy said that he has asked the GHMC, AP Pollution Control Board, environment and forest department to prepare an action plan to plant one crore saplings in the state capital this year.He said the committee has asked the SCR to make Secunderabad, Kacheguda and Hyderabad railway stations as model railway stations.The Metro Rail representatives gave a presentation to the committee saying that the number of vehicles on the roads would come down by 50 per cent once the Metro Rail project materialises.The committee has asked the state government to give incentives to those industries willing to shift their premises outside the outer ring road, Subbarami Reddy said
