One dies, another hurt in mishap

CUTTACK: An old man died and a woman was injured in a freak accident on the Mahanadi river barrage at Jobra on Thursday morning.According to reports, the woman, Namita Rath (25) was on her way to work when her scooter developed some problem on the barrage towards the Jagatpur end. She worked at Kailash Petrol Pump at Jagatpur.  Another scooter rammed her while she was calling someone for help on her  mobile.  Banamali Dash (62) of Pithapur area apparently lost control over his two-wheeler and crashed straight into her.  Both fell down and were rushed to the hospital by  locals.Dash, however, succumbed to his injuries. He is said to have died of head  injury.  Rath has been admitted to a hospital and her  condition is stated to be critical.
