Osmania University students bent on marching from campus

More trouble is in store for the city police with the Osmania University students are determined, despite denial of permission by the government, to go in a procession from the university campus to Necklace Road to take part in the Telangana March on Sunday.

A delegation of Telangana Students JAC comprising nearly 13 student unions met home minister P Sabita Indra Reddy at her residence here on Saturday and sought permission for their march from the OU campus to Necklace Road. “All the political parties and organisations extending their support to the march are coming in processions to the venue from their respective offices or chosen places. We also want to go in a procession from the campus but the home minister did not allow it,’’ TSJAC president P  Kailash said.

Sabita Reddy told the student activists to reach the venue of rally individually and not in groups.

Denied permission, the TSJAC gave a call to the student community to reach the OU campus first on Sunday and march on the Necklace Road from there. “We will march from the campus to Necklace Road to join the rally,’’ Kailash announced. The government would be responsible for any violence as the police were provoking Telangana activists by detaining them, he warned.

MLAs Komatireddy Venkat Reddy, E Rajender and Nagam Janardhan Reddy  will join the students’ march.
