HUBLI: Jnanpith awardee Chandrashekhar Kambar and veteran journalist Patil Puttappa have slammed Shiv Sena leader Bal Thackeray for his statement against Kambar. They accused him of being provocative and using unconstitutional words.Kambar who met Patil Puttappa at the latter’s residence in Hubli on Friday told reporters that the statement made by Thackeray had hurt him.“No one should hurt and abuse writers for political causes. His only intention is to gain political mileage with regard to the border issues. I request the people of Karnataka and Maharashtra not to entertain such elements made to destroy harmony on both sides of the border,” he added. Patil Puttappa slammed Bal Thackeray and said, “Thackeray is a wild animal and he has been barking all his life. There is no need to give importance to such people,” he said.
