People say no to public hearing on Sindol

SAMBALPUR: Even as the proposed Sindol Hydro Power Project has pitted the entire of western Orissa against the State Government, effort to organise a public hearing by an outfit has been rejected by people. Sindol Sangharsh Samiti (SSS), launched a fortnight back, had planned to hold the public hearing on August 24 and  State Energy Minister Atanu Sabyasachi Nayak was invited to present the view point of the State Government here. In a release, senior citizens of the affected villages of Dhama, Deogaon, Bargaon, Bausara, Huma and Sahaspur have said that there was no need to organise any public hearing as the people had already expressed their resentment against the project. They said that the elected representatives of the area should now spell out their views on the project. Meanwhile, another outfit Sindol Prakalpa Virodhi Manch of Sonepur has urged people to boycott the public hearing.
