KOCHI: Aimed at avoiding confusion in the conduct of the upcoming Kerala State School Athletics Championship, all athletes will be provided with photo-ID cards. The 55th edition of the athletic meet is scheduled to be held at the Maharaja’s College stadium here from December 8 to 11. Photos and details uploaded at the time of registration will be used in the ID cards.The card will consist details of the athlete and the time and date of the athlete’s respective events. Athletes will not be allowed to enter the venue without the card, organiser Chacko Joseph has said. “We are implementing the system mainly to ensure that participants are not confused about the time and date of their events. Students possessing the participation cards will only be permitted to enter the ground. We will match the computer entry for each athlete and the details in the card before allowing the athlete to participate,” Chacko said. Photo-attached certificates will be given to athletes to ensure transparent usage of the certificates. “The new system will help avoid malpractices related to certificates. There have been reports in the past years from the sub-district and the revenue-level regarding such incidents, which forced us to formulate the new system,” Kerala State Athletics Association joint secretary Jimmy Joseph said.
