CPM state secretary Pinarayi Vijayan has called upon the people to participate in the agitation to oust the UDF Government under which the state had been pushed to unprecedented hardships.
Inaugurating the siege on the Secretariat conducted by the CPM, he came down heavily on the Government saying that it was not worthy of the state.
“Home Minister Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan is trying to become a big leader by dreaming that he could destroy CPM by framing fake cases against its leaders. He is saying that CPM leaders have conspired for political murders sitting on the verandha of their house,” Pinarayi said.
Pinarayi said that the wrath of the people had reached its zenith and over 15 lakh people had participated in the siege laid on the Secretariat and District Collectorates across the state on Wednesday.
He also said the Central Government through its neo-liberal policies is posing a threat to food security of the country.
Prices of essential items and petroleum products have skyrocketed under the UPA rule. He said Prime Minister Manmohan Singh was responsible for the large number of scams involving lakhs of crores of rupees. The latest in the series is the coal scam, he said.
District secretary Kadakampally Surendran, V Sivankutty MLA and Jayan Babu also led the agitation.
The siege affected the functioning of the Secretariat besides causing hardships to he public who came to Secretariat.
Only the Cantonment gate of the Secretariat was open even to the officials and visitors. Cantonment police have registered a case against 5000 people for blocking traffic during the siege.
