Pipe bomb on rail track: Accused held
According to police, Senthil confessed to the crime and said that he kept the bomb on the track with the help of his friend.

The investigation team probing the pipe bomb case has taken into custody Senthil Kumar, 37, who reportedly planted the bomb on the railway track at Thonnallur near Piravom Road Railway Station on Thursday.

He was arrested from Panayur near Shoranur on Friday night, where he was hiding on the garret of the guest house of Rajagopal, a native of Panayur.

According to police, Senthil confessed to the crime and said that he kept the bomb on the track with the help of his friend Santhosh, 35, of Mudasseril house, Veliyandu at Edaykkattuvayal.

Based on Senthil’s statement, the joint investigation team headed by the state police and the Crime Branch is searching for Santhosh, who has gone into hiding.

Police said that Senthil has personal grudge against Thomas of Norappel house, Edaykkattuvayal, which prompted him to inscribe his name on the tiffin box.

Both had a scuffle earlier and in retaliation Senthil plotted the crime to make Thomas appear as the mastermind of the case. He sought the help of Santhosh and on Wednesday night they made the bomb at a place near Senthil’s house.
