Ferozepur: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday paid homage to freedom fighter Bhagat Singh in Punjab's Ferozepur district. He said the name of Bhagat Singh has the strength to inspire people to live and die for the nation.
This is Modi's first visit to Punjab after becoming the prime minister in May, 2014.
Modi announced that Centre will establish an institute, Shaheed Bhagat Singh Post Graduate Institute, for horticulture research and training in Punjab.
He lauded Punjab for its sacrifice for the country. "I salute Punjab that has sacrificed such a lot for the country," Modi said.
