Probe ordered into boy's death during PM's visit
The UP DGP has asked the Kanpur DIG to set up an enquiry into the death of a boy during the PM's visit.

New Delhi: Hours after CNN-IBN exposed how VIP security protocol allegedly took the life of a 10-year-old child, the DGP of Uttar Pradesh has instructed the DIG of Kanpur to set up an enquiry into the matter.

Public outrage is growing over the death of 10-yr-old Aman. His family says they couldn't get him to the hospital on time because the police had blocked traffic during the prime minister's visit to Kanpur. Both the UP police and the PM's security are now passing the blame.

On Friday, wounded Aman lost his life when he couldn't reach hospital on time due to tight security for the prime minister's convoy. The Congress party later issued an apology to the family as well.

Aman was the only son of his parents who has written to Congress chairperson Sonia Gandhi narrating the incident.

Former supercop Kiran Bedi believes the VIP security system needs a total overhaul. She was speaking to CNN-IBN's Editor-in-Chief Rajdeep Sardesai.

Bedi said: "VIP movement is totally pathetic apart from its high speed, hitting people down the lane. It has got no routes. It may be following a blue book but basically it is reckless and more reckless are the people who are following it. I don't know if we screen the VIP movement what impact it causes around."

Let's start filming what happens around the VIP movement, let's put the camera on what happens at right, left and behind. Let's cover them on television once in a while and you will see the mayhem which goes behind it," she added.

Bedi rued, "I think that will be an eye opener for every VIP. Now these roads are no more capable of taking this kind of huge traffic. You need to use stopper if you are very vulnerable. Common man doesn't matter at all when there is a VIP movement."
