New Delhi: Women supporters of Ramdev on Sunday organised a 'yagna' at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi for speedy recovery of Raj Bala, who suffered injuries during police action against a protest led by the yoga guru and sought immediate intervention of the President seeking justice for the victims.
The yagna was organised by Ramdev's 'Delhi Mahila Patanjali Yoga Samiti' for the speedy recovery of 51-year-old Raj Bala and to protest against the alleged police "brutality" against Ramdev and his supporters on June 4 at Ram Lila Maidan in New Delhi.
"We don't have any faith in the inquiry being conducted by the Delhi Police. Therefore, we demand a probe by an independent investigation agency and immediate intervention of the President in the matter," said Suman Acharaya, women central-in charge of Patanjali Yoga Samiti and Bharat Swabhiman Trust.
She said the trust will submit a memorandum to the President seeking her immediate intervention in the matter. Rajbala's children who were part of the protest also sought intervention of the President, an independent probe and assistance for their mother who continues to be "very critical" in GB Pant Hospital.
"What was the fault of my mother? She was there to protest against the cancer of corruption that has engulfed our country and this was her constitutional right.... We want probe by an independent agency, if there is any, because we don't trust the Delhi Police anymore," said Rakesh, Rajbala's daughter.
Rajbala's son Amit said she is battling for her life in GB Pant Hospital for the last two months and so far there has been no assistance from the government.
"Why aren't they providing any assistance to us? What is the politics behind it? My mother is very critical.... I request the government to not to play any politics and provide immediate assistance before it's too late," he said.
The chief co-coordinator of Bharat Swabhiman Trust Jaideep Arya said that the yoga guru and his supporters will continue their fight against corruption and black money.
"Protesting against injustice is our fundamental right and the government cannot take it away from us..." he said.
