Information and public relations minister D K Aruna on Saturday expressed confidence that the Centre would take a decision on the Telangana statehood issue at any moment.
She informed mediapersons that she had credible information from Delhi that the Centre would create a Rayala-Telangana state which will include Kurnool and Anantapur districts. She, however, refused to elaborate about her sources in the national capital.
She hopes a final decision will be taken before September 30. “They (the Centre) have intensified their efforts in this direction,” she said. However, she also said that there was no deadline or Muhurtham for the central government’s announcement.
State law minister E Pratap Reddy and former minister JC Diwakar Reddy said that they had given representations to AICC president Sonia Gandhi and she promised a final decision soon. They observed that there was no necessity to present the issue before the party high command again and again and the Centre would take a final decision by considering all the factors.
