Rebel attacks in different areas of Nepal
The number of bombings, killings and abductions of officials have increased in Nepal as rebels go on a rampage with attacks.

New Delhi: Unidentified assailants murdered two family members of an army soldier and left three others injured in Nepal where the Maoists triggered landmine explosion also killing a civilian, security sources said.

The Maoists had released two government officials on Thursday abducted from Khunuwa area in Kapilavastu district five days ago.

The officials Bhawani Prasad Parajuli and Bimal Prasad Acharya were handed over to local human rights workers in Madhura.

In one of the cases of violence reported on Thursday in Gorkha district in west Kathmandu an unidentified armed group had "brutally murdered" two women.

They were wife and mother of Royal Nepalese Army Sergeant Suk Bahadur Gharti besides three other family members were seriously injured.

Gharti is away in Congo on an UN peace mission the sources said.

Meanwhile, a man was killed and a soldier injured in a landmine explosion triggered by the Maoists in a village in Parsa district on Thursday.

The Maoists had planted the landmine to target the army patrolling team at Madhuvan Mathwal village of the district.

Another group of armed Maoists seized the house of Assistant Minister for Labour and Transport Tek Narayan Rajbanshi at Rajgadh village in Jhapa district, the National News Agency said.

The rebels had also planted a bomb in the house of Bhakta Bahadur Koirala, chief of the dissolved Royal Commission for Corruption Control (RCCC).
