CUTTACK: Former Chief Justice of India MN Venkatchaliah on Friday called for restructuring law education in tune with time. Delivering a lecture on ‘Contemporary State of Legal Education’ at the National Law University Odisha (NLUO) here, he emphasised on attuning legal education to the ever-changing socio-economic atmosphere. Academic scenario has undergone a sea change over the years. “When we were students we had limited resources to fall back on. But today students are exposed to an unlimited range of resources, thanks to the internet and advent of modern tools and technologies,” he said. He also stressed that the law faculty should have some kind or practical experience of courtroom proceedings and conducts. It will help the faculty members impart education to students in the most- fruitful manner, he added. He shared his rich experiences with students and faculty while giving insightful tips on how to excel in the field. Among others, Chancellor, NLUO, and Orissa High Court Chief Justice V Gopalagowda and Dean of Law Prof. Krishna Mahajan were present.
