CHENNAI: The Madras High Court has directed the inspector attached to the Tiruvallur town police station to register a case on a complaint alleging land grabbing by the policemen manning the land grab cell in the district.After registering a case, the inspector should forward the same to the DVAC, who in turn should hold investigation on the same and file an interim report in three months, Justice A Arumugaswamy said while passing interim orders on a writ petition from N Moorthy of Manavala Nagar.In his complaint, Moorthy alleged that he and his wife were taken in a police vehicle at 3 am on November 11 to the local district superintendent’s police office, where the special cell for land grab was situated. The DSP, who came the following morning along with the other cops threatened the petitioner and wife with dire consequences and forced them to sign papers cancellating the sale deed of a 1.57 acre land in Perambakkam village.They kept the couple in custody and sent the police personnel to purchase stamp papers, got them typed and escorted them to the Perambakkam registrar ofice and executed the sale deed cancellation.In his petition, he cited DSP Vaithyalingam, three sub-inspectors and four constables attached to the land grab wing as parties to the case.
