The District Collector’s report has been sought on the problems faced by the Kitex group’s plant  in  Ernakulam district,  Chief Minister Oommen Chandy told the media on the Cabinet decisions  here on Wednesday.

On other decisions, he said the government is giving maximum encouragement to promote decentralized waste management systems. Sanction has been given to respective LSGs to give waiver for building tax up to ten percent to those houses that set up biogas plants or compost pipes.

He said  the government has formed a sub- committee comprising the Ministers of  Finance, Home, Revenue,  Panchayat and Excise to  hold  discussions with  the concerned in the ongoing Orthodox-Jacobite spat.

The Finance Department would release 50 crore  for paddy procurement. The aim of the government is to provide maximum benefit to farmers. Coupons will be provided to withdraw money from Cooperative banks.

Administrative sanction has been given for the works of Ponnani - Vengalam coastal highway costing  Rs 117.62 crore. An assistance of Rs 3 lakh has  been given  for the families of the victims of  level cross accident at Aroor. 

The government would request the Centre to post gate keepers at all unmanned level crossings.  A sum of   Rs.10 lakh would be given to Nambi Narayanan,  former ISRO  scientist as per the direction of the court immediately.
