Results will affect UP polls: Rajnath
Rajnath Singh says the poll results in Uttarakhand and Punjab will have a direct bearing on the Assembly elections in UP.

New Delhi: As the BJP swayed amidst favourable political winds, BJP President Rajnath Singh made an important observation — the poll results in Uttarakhand and Punjab will have a direct bearing on the forthcoming Assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh.

"Uttarakhand was once part of UP. And the poll results indicate the public mood and this is a good message for BJP," PTI quoted BJP President Rajnath Singh as saying.

"The results are as per our expectations. Congress had failed to fulfill the promises they had made and the public had seen that," he added.

The party president also pointed out that both SAD and BJP had fought elections keeping the general public in mind.

"The results show that the public trusts us because their demand wasn’t fulfilled by the present Congress government both in Uttarakhand and in Punjab,” he said.

Singh denied anti-incumbency factor was responsible for the poll results, saying the people of the two states had earlier seen the work of BJP. "When they compared the two governments, they found that BJP was the only party that could provide good governance," PTI quoted him as saying.
