Rs 3 lakh rectified spirit seized

PUDUCHERRY: As much as 2,660 litres of rectified spirit, valued at Rs 3 lakh, was seized from a lorry here on Saturday night.Based on specific information, excise officials conducted a check at the Gorimedu border, said sources.The officials then noticed a Swaraj Mazda mini-lorry parked in the area. A search of the vehicle revealed a chamber located close to the driver’s seat.Inside the chamber, they found seven cans of rectified spirit. The lorry was subsequently seized and efforts are on to trace the vehicle’s owner.
