S Ayyar is new State Election Commissioner

CHENNAI:  Retired IAS officer S Ayyar will be the new State Election Commissioner (SEC).  He will hold the office for two years.  Syed Munir Hoda, who was functioning as the SEC since May 22, 2010, resigned on May 24, 2011. Following this, Governor Surjit Singh Barnala has appointed Ayyar as the new SEC. Ayyar had served the State government in various capacities including as the Collector of Madurai and Karur districts besides the Director of Rural Development and Joint Secretary of Municipal Administration and Water Supply Department.
