Demanding a CBI probe, Samajwadi Party (SP) in Rajasthan on Friday alleged BSNL and Tata Telly Services were guilty of bungling Rs 202.63 crore for a telecom expansion programme in the state's rural areas. "We will write to the CBI, Centre and the state government in this connection seeking a thorough investigation into the scam," SP state vice president, Anil Singh Shekhawat told reporters in Jaipur.
"BSNL had paid a sum of Rs 202.63 crore as subsidy to Tata Telly Services for works which had no verification from its Technical Department...it was noted by the CAG in its audit report," Shekhawat said. Incidentally, the SP leader is in possession of RTI documents as a proof in the matter.
He also said, "Tata Telly Services has provided 2.91 lakh connections in the state's 24 districts against BTS/Exchange capacity of 40,320 connections during the contract period between 2005 and 2010 and received the payment without any verification and inspection."
