The bus was carrying 68 students and teachers for a picnic.
Hooghly, West Bengal: Two school teachers were killed and about 40 students injured after a bus carrying 68 school students and teachers lost control and hit a tree on Delhi Road in Bengal's Hooghly district on Tuesday afternoon.
The team was on its way for a picnic from Sree Sitala Hindi Vidyalaya in Howrah.
The injured have been admitted to local hospitals and the condition of about 10 of them were learnt to be critical.
Victims said the accident took place when the private bus, which was hired by the school for picnic, lost control
“Our teacher repeatedly requested the driver not to drive so fast. But he didn't listen and kept on driving at breakneck speed,” said one of the students, Pooja Singh.
