Dear Shri Pranab Ji,
The government has identified six issues related to Lokpal Bill, on which it has sought opinion of various stakeholders. However, people are not fully aware of pros and cons on each of these issues.
We are organizing a national public debate on these six issues. The debate is likely to be telecast live by many national and regional TV channels. It would educate the people about these issues and help them in giving informed opinion.
The civil society members (barring justice Hegde, who would not be present dueto some family engagement) of the drafting committee will be present at the debate. It would useful if the government nominees of the drafting committee could also join the debate.
We propose to do it on June at 7 pm at Shah Auditorium, Civil Lines, Delhi. However, if this time is inconvenient for you, we could change it to some mutually convenient date and time. Even if all the five ministers cannot come, it would be usefui if a few ofthem were present.
If you agree in principle, we could mutually decide the format and other details. We had thought that the meeting could be presided over by an eminent person like Former Chief Justice JS Verma (we have not spoken to him yet and will do so if you agree) or any eminent person suggested by you. Since there is little time left, we would appreciate an early response.
