Dhar: Despite persistent turbulence in his political career, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan is known for keeping his cool but on Monday during a public rally, the leader was caught on video slapping his bodyguard.
Chouhan then continued to proceed with the campaign as if nothing happened. The BJP leader was in Sardarpur town to campaign ahead of the municipal elections, scheduled for later this month.
Walking in his usual hurried manner, Chouhan, who was flanked by his security detail, is seen slapping one of the officers and shoving him to the other side. The incident was caught on camera.
Some of the locals claim that the officer was persistently nudging the leader, which led to the latter getting infuriated.
While others did not react to the incident, the Congress has not let the opportunity pass.
“The Chief Minister has slapped a policeman. Why a case of obstructing a Public Servant is not being registered against the leader of a party which keeps harping on morality?" quizzed Congress spokesperson Pankaj Chaturvedi in a tweet.
“Sceptical of a possible defeat in civic polls stressed out CM slaps his security guard," read Chaturvedi’s another tweet.
Congress MP president Arun Yadav also took to the micro-blogging site and wrote, “CM and BJP workers manhandle police jawan publically which clearly shows the concern of the CM owing to the growing clout of Congress."
