Gwalior: Not able to curb accidents caused due to celebratory gun shots in marriages, Gwalior administration has now come up with a noble idea.
The Gwalior Collector Dr Sanjay Goyal has announced Rs 10,000 reward for anyone who approaches them with the videographic or pictorial evidence of celebratory fires in marriages in the city.
The Gwalior-Chambal region is known for flaunting of guns and more than anything else, people carry their ‘status symbol’ to marriages also and do not think twice before opening fire for expressing their joy, which can often lead to injuries that can cause death.
Police have in the past warned such elements, but they never pay heed to these warnings, said an officer from the city.
As deploying police at each and every marriage function is not possible for administration, the Collector has now come up with the announcement of reward.
Anyone presenting pictorial or videographic evidence of celebratory gun shots would be handed Rs 10,000 cash reward and his identity would be kept secret, Collector Dr Goyal, in his order, said.
“People don’t listen despite repetitive warnings so the new initiative has been adopted. More such prohibitive measures would be taken soon,” said the Collector.
