Chennai: Rap artist Sofia Ashraf of 'My Kodaikanal Won't' fame is back again with a new number expressing dismay over Sasikala’s elevation as AIADMK general secretary and Tamil Nadu chief minister.
This time she took the guitar and went to Poes Garden late on Sunday night and sang to express her dissent.
Sofia had earlier stood up against US chemical giant Dow for the victims of the Bhopal Gas tragedy.
Talking to CNN-News18, Sofia Ashraf said, "This is pure and pure civil action, movement. what is interesting is that we are here for different reasons but primarily against political bullying .There we had a focus point we were fighting for. Here it is the idea of democracy that we are trying to reclaim."
"The main lyrics in the song is 'those who were not elected need not become ministers'. And that's the sentiment most Tamilians have now. Democracy as we know is dead. How can someone not elected by people become Chief Minister? It may be all legal, but it isn't right. People can't suddenly pop up and say we will be the CM," Sofia said, speaking to The News Minute.
Here are the full lyrics to the song, as given by Ashraf.
