Samajwadi Party General Secretary Amar Singh has lashed out at the Opposition for 'playing politics' over Nithari.

New Delhi: Samajwadi Party General Secretary Amar Singh on Thursday lashed out at the Opposition parties for 'playing politics' over the Nithari killings and putting the entire blame on his party for the serial murders.

"Over 3,600 children are missing in Delhi. So we should ask for Sonia Gandhi's resignation," Amar Singh said, when asked to react to the Opposition demand that the Samajwadi Party Government in Uttar Pradesh should resign from office taking the responsibility for its failure to crack the missing children case earlier.

He also alleged that the key accused in the Nithari killings, Moninder Singh, was associated with the Congress Party.

"The Opposition is playing politics," the SP leader said, adding "it's unfair to blame the Samajwadi Party if the BJP MP (Khurja) himself doesn't know what's happening in his area."

He said politics should not be the main issue to be discussed at this hour as the Nithari episode is too big a tragedy to play politics over it.
