CHENNAI: Vels Nakshatra, the first national-level fest organised by Vels University on its campus in Pallavaram recently, turned out to be a grand affair. The show was inaugurated by actress-cum-singer Andrea Jeremiah and director AL Vijay, who is an alumnus of Vels University. Events like B-boy battle, short film contest, fashion show and choreo night drew crowd in large numbers.Choreo Night, the last event on the concluding day saw over 15 teams participating and the top three honours went to Madha Engineering College, Madras Christian College (MCC) and Loyola College, respectively. The curtains came down on the two day event with a stupendous guest performance by ‘The Fifth Element’, one of the leading groups in the country today.The short film competition had over 9 contestants and was judged by actor-director Pandiarajan, leading cinematographer YN Murali and director Balaji Mohan. Actor-director Parthiban was the distributed the prizes to the winners.
