New Delhi: Hinting at Israel-India ties, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said that to ensure peace, strong alliances need to be made.

“The weak dont survive, strong survive. You make alliances with the strong. You make peace by being strong,” he said, as Prime Minister Narendra Modi sat in the audience.

Netanyahu was speaking at the Raisina Dialogue in the national capital. Seen in the audience were external affairs minister Sushma Swaraj, foreign secretary S Jaishankar, Congress MP Shashi Tharoor among others.

Addressing Modi as his dear friend and a friend of Israel, Netanyahu said that it was a natural friendship that both nations had.

“I was moved to see the sympathy and friendship of people in Agra. They called me their friend since I was friends with their Prime Minister,” he added.

The Israeli PM also said that he was astounded to know under Modi, India had gone up 42 places on ease of doing business, adding that India was a place that showed that humanity can be governed with freedom.

He further said that it was democracy binds India and Israel together and the two nations can grow together.

The PM also said that while military, economic and political powers were critical, there was a fourth power that was necessary for growth- the power of values.

“We have powerful traditions, ancient tradiitons that we are proud of and yet inquiring minds that reach out to the skies. Thats what India and Israel have in abundance,” he further added.
