A young aspirant preparing for the Madhya Pradesh civil exam was found dead under mysterious circumstances in his hostel room in Indore on Friday.
According to police reports, 21-year-old Puneet Dubey was found hanging from the ceiling fan in his room, wearing a saree and women’s makeup, and was blindfolded.
Puneet, a second-year student pursuing B.Sc. in Computer Science at Ranjit Singh College in Indore, was preparing for the Madhya Pradesh Public Service Commission (MPPSC) exams.
There was a pool of blood on the floor near the body when it was found. The authorities further stated that Puneet’s death is being investigated from both a suicide and murder angle.
As per India Today report, the police were alerted about the incident by neighbours three days later, after they detected a foul odor coming from Puneet’s room.
Puneet, originally from Udaipura town in the state, had relocated to Indore two years ago for his studies, his father, Tribhuvan Dubey, revealed.
Tribhuvan, who is a farmer leader, further said that Puneet’s Puneet used to call home every night, with his last conversation being with his mother, Vibhuti Dubey, at 10 pm on Thursday night.
Puneet, who was preparing for the state civil exams, used to stay at the coaching center from 9 am to 9 pm, as disclosed by his father.
The police have initiated an investigation into the case. Puneet’s laptop, mobile, and other items have been seized, and his hostel roommates are currently being interrogated.
Puneet’s body was taken to Udaipura for his last rites after the post-mortem examination was conducted. His father has demanded a thorough investigation into the matter, the report stated.
