NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court on Wednesday directed Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa to appear in a Bangalore Special Court on Thursday with regard to her wealth cases as the government of Karnataka had assured adequate security.A Bench comprising Justices Dalveer Bhandar and Dipak Misra told senior counsel Mukul Rohtagi and Sanjay Hegde, appearing for Jayalalithaa, to “be reasonable”. Standing counsel for Karnataka, Anitha Shenoy informed the Bench that adequate security arrangements have been made for the TN CM in view of her case hearing.“I personally spoke to the Chief Secretary and am told that he and the Director General of Police will be faxing their affidavits directly to Supreme Court at noon today on the arrangements that have been made,” she told the Bench.“Special arrangements have been made. NSG is her responsibility. Our responsibility is Z+ security,” she added. At this, Mukul Rohtagi told the Bench that the time is not sufficient as NSG needs three days to sanitize the venue and it has to interact with the state police force. And the Karnataka police will not be able to provide full security, he felt.Justice Bhandari said, “Venue has been finalised.” To this, Rohtagi said, “There is a venue three km from the airport. The present venue is located 60 km away.”Later, when hearing began at 2 pm, Justice Bhandari said, “Apprehension was on security. Chief Secretary and the DGP have filed affidavits. We were equally concerned yesterday. But, both the top officers say adequate security has been taken care of.” “Take a copter. They say they will leave no stone unturned,” he added.  On September 12 the apex court had dismissed Jayalalithaa’s petition seeking exemption from personal appearance.
