Hisar: A teacher of a private school in Haryana’s Hisar allegedly painted the face of six students, including two girls, black and paraded them inside the school for getting low marks in English language test. The incident took place on Friday and one of the girls, a 9-year-old Dalit, informed her parents about it.
Her parents told reporters on Tuesday that family members went to the school to lodge a complaint about the treatment meted out to the children, but the authorities failed to take action against the staff responsible.
On Monday, the girl's family was joined by some other parents and they held a protest outside the old vegetable market police post in Hisar demanding that the police take immediate action in the matter.
The father of the class 4 student demanded the school to be closed as it allowed such an incident to take place, news agency ANI reported.
“She is in class 4. Even if she did not know the answer of the question, they should not have done this," her father was quoted as saying by ANI.
Members of some Dalit outfits also reached there after receiving information about the incident.
A spokesman of the police department said that the principal was arrested in connection with a case registered against her and three teachers under the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act and SC and ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act.
The case was registered on a complaint lodged by the parents of a 9-year-old Dalit girls, he added.
