Teacher succumbs to fears of failure

PARADIP: Apprehensions of missing out on a financially secure life following a poor show at the Certified Teachers examination took its toll on Sarada Charan Das of Baripada village under Tirtol police limits.  Appearing for the examination at Sadeipur High School under Jagatsinghpur block on Thursday, Das reportedly fell unconscious, apparently bogged down by the fading prospects of being promoted as a permanent teacher as he failed to write the examination well. Das was admitted to SCB Medical, Cuttack, where he died.A Gana Sikhyak at Akhandal Nodal Primary School, Das was entitled to a meagre Rs. 2,250. He is believed to be done in by the strict invigilation rules implemented by the School and Mass Education Department for the CT examination. Around 308 Gana Sikhyaks wrote the examination in different centres of Jagatsinghpur district. Twelve examinees have been booked for malpractice, said Circle Inspector of Schools Prasant Swain.
