CHENNAI: Three eclipses will occur in a span of 30 days spread between June and July across the world.In June, two eclipses will take place. One is the partial eclipse of the sun, which was not visible in India and occurred on June 2, and the other is the total eclipse of the moon, which will be visible in India on 15th night.The eclipse will be visible in India and throughout most of South America, Europe, Africa, Asia, and Australia.“On 15th night the Moon will enter the darker shadow of the Earth at: 11.53pm and will continue till early morning around 03:33 am,” said a statement from the Chennai Science City. Lunar eclipses can be observed without telescopes, from an open space.Elaborate arrangements have been made at the Birla Planetarium in Chennai to witness the lunar eclipse on the 15th night.Incidentally, on July 1, another partial eclipse will occur which will not be visible in India. With this, totally three eclipses will occur within a span of 30 days. Occurrences of triple eclipses, that is, three eclipses occurring successively every 15 days, is a normal astronomical phenomenon and this will not create any natural calamity like earthquake. It occurred in 2009. We will witness the same in 2013.
